Journalistic research

So long as we have something interesting to report and are not breaching client’s trust, cre8ive have never been afraid of going into print. Using both desk research and qualitative techniques we have self generated thought pieces and been commissioned by others to write papers and a book.

In 1994 we wrote Nations For Sale - a study of the ‘national equity’ of Britain, America and Japan. This received considerable coverage at the time: Sunday Times, Wall Street Journal, Guardian, BBC Radio 4, Talk FM, BBC The Money Programme and sparked off the Cool Britannia debate. This led to consultancy work for the British Council and Foreign & Commonwealth Office on cultural identity, national perceptions and public diplomacy. In 2001 this was followed by Building Brands in a Multi-national Store.

In 2000 cre8ive was commissioned to write Creativity Works a book which explored the concept of creativity in business through interviews with industrial leaders, entrepreneurs and thinkers. It was published by Profile Books and launched at a seminar held at 11 Downing Street. It involved interviews with Gordon Brown, Gerry Robinson (Chairman Granada), Terry Leahy (CEO Tesco), Chris Evans (bio-technology entrepreneur) Helen Alexander (CEO The Economist), Daniel Libeskind (architect) amongst others. The introductory essay was published in Business Age.

In the lead up to the 2001 General Election, cre8ive ran a weekly research panel amongst floating voters in marginal constituencies to produce a column for the political Editor of a national Sunday paper.  We have also worked as editors for NESTA (National Endowment for Science, Technology & the Arts) editing their publications including Creating Value - How the UK can Invest in New Creative Businesses, Business Growth in the Creative Industries and Real Science.
